# Ciphertext Nickname

> The nickname is a way to give an easy to read identifier to your ciphertext.

### Nicknames for readability

If you want a way to distinguish your ciphertexts easier than memorizing their first
few characters, you can use a nickname! This will display on the sidebar and inside of
widgets instead of the first few characters of the ciphertext, making it easier to identify
which cipher you are looking at.
